Not everyone loves long-form writing

People usually like the idea of it and the outcome. But the hours of research and rewriting it takes to arrive at a first draft?

Yeah…not everyone’s idea of a good time.

You have to love the process. Which means writing AND revising your own work, taking feedback and deleting those sentences you’ve become weirdly attached to but don’t advance the argument.

All in the name of creating something that’s strategically sound and genuinely enjoyable to read.

Let me guess....

Let me guess....

You already know what you need, but you don’t have the capacity or appetite to disappear into a document and second-guess every word.

This is when it makes sense to hand over the reins, but handing off high-stakes work takes trust.

You need a good content writer, of course.

But their thinking also needs to hold up. Because content can read beautifully and still be strategically off.

So let’s say you get the right content writer in place…

This is where things get good.

The handoff process is buttery smooth. The writing gets done on time. The objective stays top of mind as the piece takes shape. And you’re surprised (in a good way) by the insights they bring to the table.

You can finally unclench your jaw because you know it’s handled.

The boost of outside support makes it easier to hit your goals and stay ahead on content production instead of constantly playing catch-up.

If you’re nodding along so far, we should probably meet.

Howdy! I’m Reggie, your straight-shooting second set of eyes.

I work with busy teams that need writing and editing they can stand behind. Consider the rest of this page my audition to be your new content writer *jazz hands*.

I’m a writer by trade and by instinct. I graduated with a joint degree in creative communications, and over the last 12 years, I’ve worked in public relations and communications, journalism, marketing, and advertising.

Because I’ve worked across disciplines, I understand how strategy, messaging and execution intersect.

I’ve also been part of the teams that hire writers like me, so I know what it feels like to hand something off and hope it comes back in good shape.

So when it’s with me, you can consider it corralled.

I think we’ll get along just fine if…

  • You see content as a strategic asset.

  • You care about quality and positioning as much as production timelines.

  • You’re open to informed perspectives when they strengthen the outcome.

  • You’re not looking for someone who will just take orders.

  • You’re looking for a partner who will co-champion your brand standards and help you achieve your goals.

Now that we've covered all that...

Let’s get to know each other better!

Because if we work together, you’re hiring me as a writer, but also as a partner (which is a big deal, imho).

You’re gonna find out real quick that I take my work seriously and myself not so seriously

Off the clock, I’m a sober, vegan homebody who learned to ski at age 32, hates plastic bags and loves learning about random topics on YouTube. Despite all of this, I’m still really fun (pinky promise!!!).

My first ever paid writing gig was working as a city reporter for The Uniter, the University of Winnipeg’s newspaper, and my first Wordpress blog (there was more than one lol) is still up and is very sassy, in case you’re nosy.

These days, I call Kelowna, BC home and where I treat touching grass like it’s my job.

Fun fact:

I’m also a spin instructor

Which has nothing to do with writing…except that it taught me how to read a room, use my words to create and maintain momentum, when to challenge and when to encourage.

Turns out the skills transfer surprisingly well.

A little more dirt on The Content Cowgirl

My go-to comfort show:

I rotate between I Like to Watch and UNHhhh. I could be in the worst mood ever and Trixie and Katya could still make me laugh.

You can find me…

In the bath tub, staring at the wall, boiling myself. It’s therapeutic.

Currently playing on repeat:

Katranada’s Elevator Music set. I like to find a YouTube DJ set, listen until I’ve ruined it for myself—usually 300-500 times does the trick—then rinse and repeat.

I’m secretly really good at…

Making complete meals with random food from my fridge and pantry. My fiance says it's my ~*gift*~, but it’s really because I know food waste accounts for 8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and facts like that lowkey keep me up at night.

I’m currently learning…

How to DJ on a DDJ-FLX4. Everyone jokes about how easy DJing is, but I can tell you it’s *much* harder than it looks (as are most things).

“Working with Reggie has been an absolute pleasure! She is kind, thoughtful and incredibly creative in her approach to copywriting. Reggie is someone we can always rely on. She not only follows assignments with care and precision but also brings fresh, thoughtful suggestions that have genuinely improved the quality of our content.

One of Reggie’s standout strengths is her ability to take complex, wordy materials and transform them into clear, concise and engaging copy that truly resonates with our desired audience. She asks insightful questions, does her research, and takes a real interest in the subject matter.

We’re grateful to have Reggie as part of our extended team.”

One last little tidbit…

About the name of my business

I go by The Content Cowgirl because I love saying “howdy” and “yeehaw” in an ironic way. And also because being a walking contradiction fits my vibe.

There was a time when I felt like I needed to change how I presented myself to be accepted in corporate settings. I actually wrote about it for
CBC Manitoba. TLDR: I felt like I was too much, in every way, and maybe I wasn’t built right for corporate jobs.

But instead of disqualifying myself, I stuck it out and came to realize that a) I have adhd and b) being unapologetically myself has been far better for my work relationships and my career.

So do I like country music and drinking whiskey? No.

Did I grow up on a ranch? No, but shoutout to horse girls.

Am I from Alberta? No.

Do I wear the hat and boots anyway? Hell ya.
